The most striking differences between the Sorento and the Sorento Hybrid are experienced behind the wheel. The Sorento is available with two gas powertrain options. The entry-level system is a 191-horsepower, 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. It comes with an eight-speed auto transmission and front-wheel drive. The other engine is a 281-horsepower, turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Select trims have all-wheel drive.

The Sorento Hybrid features a single powertrain system. The turbo 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine sips fuel while generating 227 horsepower. It comes with a six-speed auto transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on most trims. All-wheel drive is standard with the top trim levels.

Appearance

There are only a few differences between the Sorento and the Sorento Hybrid on the exterior. Both models have a tall, gently angled roof with smoothly contoured sides and defined fenders. The Sorento Hybrid adds an air vent running below the side mirrors. On the nose, the Sorento has a rectangular grille with upright, triangular LED headlights. The headlights feature a column of LED bulbs, mounted over tall, gill-like air vents. An LED band lines two sides of the headlights. The Sorento Hybrid features a modified bowtie-style grille with slightly reshaped headlights and amber LED accents.

Features

You can enjoy many of the same features in the 2026 Sorento and the 2026 Sorento Hybrid, but features vary by trim.
